Project description
CROCODILE 2 CROATIA involves the operators of state roads and motorways, with the purpose of ensuring coordinated traffic management and control, resulting in the provision of high quality traveler information services on EU-wide major road corridors.
Data and information exchange standard to be used in Europe will be DATEX II. It is a standardized electronic language for the exchange of traffic information and traffic data between traffic control centers, traffic information centers, traffic service providers and users. The implementation of DATEX II standard and the set-up of the Main Traffic Control Centre for Motorways and the Main Traffic Control Centre for State Roads, alongside the National Access Point, will improve efficiency of traffic monitoring and management in Croatia. It will also enable integration of Croatian network into the European Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), while enhancing road safety and allowing better communication with road users.
The Project will be implemented in two phases: project preparation (project development to be financed by all operators, signatories of the Cooperation Agreement) and project implementation (set-up services to be co-financed through Connecting Europe Facility).
