As the company responsible for management of state roads, Hrvatske ceste d.o.o. are required to draw up strategic noise maps and action plans regarding noise management and harmful effects of noise on human health.
Seeing that the road traffic is one of the major noise sources, these maps and plans are prepared for the so-called main roads, i.e. roads with more than 3,000,000 vehicle per year. The above stated requirements are all set out
in the Noise Protection Act and Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of June 25 2002, relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise.
Based on the strategic noise map, the intervention areas are determined. Furthermore, the noise action plan sets out measures to protect the population from exposure to excessive noise.
Hrvatske ceste d.o.o. have drawn up a strategic noise map of national roads for the so-called forth reporting round addressing the year 2021 and 84 sections of state roads with a total length of 633 km.
The comprehensive results of the Strategic Noise Map and Noise Action Plan for the forth reporting round are available here.
